The Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology issues the following statement regarding to the gathering, handling, and disclosure of personal information of applicants for the IPMB Early Career Symposium 2026.

1. Pursuant to: Article 8 of the Personal Information Protection Act (hereafter “the Act”).
2. Agency (name): Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan (hereafter “IPMB”)
3. Purpose of collection: For evaluating the qualification of the applicant and for contacting him/her for the presentation arrangement later on
4. Types of information gathered: Name, affiliation, contact information (email and phone number), citizenship, school record, working experience, and research area
5. Utilizing period: From the time of application submission to the IPMB website to the completion of the selection.
6. Users of personal information: IPMB and scholars or experts authorized by IPMB

In accordance with the Act, the person involved can inquire about the information or request to read it; they can ask for copies or request to cease the use and handling, and delete the data. The person involved can exercise the above rights by submitting this request to IPMB via email at hsiaoyun@as.edu.tw.

If an applicant does not provide complete and correct information to IPMB, his/her case will not be processed, and the applicant will lose the qualification to subsequent evaluation for the selection.
